His Eminence Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche visit &
Nyungne Temple Consecration
October 13-14, 2018
On October 13, 2018, our Venerable Wangchen Rinpoche and the Ser Chö Ling community welcomed His Eminence Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche to North Fork. The joyous occasion marked the reunion of Wangchen Rinpoche with his Guru's young reincarnation after 13 years. Ceremonies commenced with Wangchen Rinpoche making a Body, Speech and Mind Mandala Offering to his Guru and with a consecration ceremony for the temple and 15 foot 1,000 Armed Chenrezig statue.
Kalu Rinpoche bestowed the Niguma Long Life Empowerment to all present along with a teaching that spoke in detail of the empowerment's particular history and lineage, our own place in receiving the empowerment, and a description of the process. Rinpoche's teaching, as was the case over the next two days, was filled with personal anecdotes, insight and humor. The first evening concluded with a Mahakala puja and the first of two teachings on meditation based on the writings of the previous Kalu Rinpoche.
On Sunday morning Kalu Rinpoche continued his teaching on meditation based on the writings of the previous Kalu Rinpoche and then took questions from students. After closing remarks from Wanchen Rinpoche, the program concluded with Kalu Rinpoche's recognition of their shared responsibilities as holders of the Shangpa Kagyu Lineage and his pledge to help Wangchen Rinpoche and Ser Chö Ling at large in whatever way possible.
We are so grateful to both Rinpoche's to have made this occasion possible and look forward to Kalu Rinpoche's return to Ser Chö Ling in the near future.
